Wishbone, a Canadian rock band from Toronto was active early in the 1970s. The group got in touch with a songwriter named Paul Gross, and gave him some recordings of Tommy James and the Shondells & The Grass Roots and said, "Write some songs like these".

Paul Gross most certainly did. 'You're Gonna Miss Me' was issued in April 1971 and then rush released in the USA. We had a top-10 hit in Canada and the record was just starting to cook. It was on almost 150 stations in the USA. This was until it met up with the real thing. The Grass Roots released a record titled 'Sooner or Later' and our record just died. The radio stations decided they wanted to play The Grass Roots, not some band from Canada that sounded like The Grass Roots.
